Encouraging volunteerism and community service.

AmeriCorps is your chance to put your ideals into action while learning new skills, making new connections and earning money to pay for college. Learn more at www.americorps.gov or click on the logos below to learn more about the programs in Idaho.

AmeriCorps is also known as the domestic Peace Corps and engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive, results-driven service each year. The five priority areas identified in the Serve America Act include education, healthy futures, clean energy / environment, veterans and opportunity.

In Idaho, AmeriCorps members are teaching children to read, helping to identify alternative transportation for persons with disabilities in rural areas, improving and educating students about the environment, leading after-school programs, helping during times of disaster, and engaging veterans to help other veterans gain access to community resources. The commitment made by AmeriCorps members is captured in
the pledge each member makes when beginning their year of service.

"I will get things done for America
To make our people safer, smarter, and healthier.
I will bring Americans together to strengthen our communities.
Faced with Apathy, I will take action.
Faced with conflict, I will seek common ground.
Faced with adversity, I will persevere.
I will carry this commitment with me this year and beyond.
I am an AmeriCorps member, and I will get things done."
